Speaking into a better life.

Continually in service to Monroe County since 1986, Good Shepherd Center has found that a box of food at the end of the month’s money, a good-as-new jacket for a job interview, a Christmas gift for a child, help with a winter utility bill – delivered with compassion and purpose – speaks louder than we can imagine and resonates deeper than we can know into the lives of our struggling neighbors.

Providing a better way.

These simple donations of basic items, and monetary gifts from our faithful donors, allow us to invest in our community and speak into the lives of our neighbors in need with something immediate and tangible, providing a better way for a better life. It is our greatest hope, our constant prayer, that timely assistance from Good Shepherd Center can:

  • help individuals get back on their feet
  • nurture families pushing through difficult times … while encouraging them to rise up and reach for self-sufficiency
  • be a blessing for better times ahead when they can also give and bless others

He makes me lie down in green pastures … leads me beside quiet waters … refreshes my soul … guides me along the right paths … Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23 KJV

preparing a table of goodness & mercy

Good Shepherd Center takes its name from King David’s beloved Divine portrait of The Good Shepherd, who comforts, protects, guides and provides for His flock, who prepares a table for those under His watchful care. Like with The Good Shepherd, both the 99 and the 1 matter. We strive to never lose sight of that truth.

Suppose one of you had a hundred sheep and lost one. Wouldn’t you leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the lost one until you found it? When found, you can be sure you would put it across your shoulders, rejoicing, and when you got home call in your friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Celebrate with me! I’ve found my lost sheep!
